Dr Genevieve Solomou
DPsych CPsychol BSc (Hons)
I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist, registered and accredited with the Health and Care Professions Council and a full member of the British Psychological Society's Division of Counselling Psychology.
Since the completion of my Doctorate training at City University, London, I have acquired extensive clinical experience within a diverse range of NHS and private sector settings. I have gained expertise in working effectively with individuals and couples and developed specialist counselling skills for the treatment of a range of emotional, psychological and mental health difficulties.
Alongside my work with The London Psychology Practice, I hold the post of Chartered Counselling Psychologist with HCA International. In this role, I provide psychological therapy and support to patients and their families experiencing a diagnosis and treatment for cancer (at the Harley Street Cancer Centre, The London Oncology Clinic, the Wellington Hospital and the Platinum Medical Centre). I have also worked as a member of the Priory Healthcare team at their acute Hospital in North London.
As a lecturer, I have contributed to City University's MSc Health Psychology Degree programme on the topic of Psycho-Oncology. I have also appeared as a Guest Speaker for the British Ballet Organisation as part of their dance teacher training event.
My research interests are varied. I recently conducted research investigating the psychological impact of involuntary redundancy on City Professionals during a climate of recession.
